Rep. advises Nigerians to have a different perspective on local government elections

Adedeji Stanley Olajide, a member of the House of Representatives, has encouraged Nigerians to reconsider their stance on local government elections.

Olajide bemoaned the fact that so few individuals participate in local government elections.

He asked Nigerians to value local government elections in the same manner as they do state, federal, and presidential elections.

Just after voting in the ongoing Oyo State LG election, the member representing the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly stated.

Since local governments are the closest to the people, he said, individuals should take local government elections seriously.

“I want the populace to value the national elections for local government.

“We should expect the same turnout as in previous presidential, National Assembly, and state elections.

“Our people don’t always vote in municipal elections for government. It ought to be conducted in the same manner as in previous general elections.

“Because you own that power. Voting is the process via which you can request development. You have that right.
