In Adamawa, complications from measles kill 19 youngsters

In Mubi North Local Government Area, Adamawa State, complications from suspected measles-related deaths have claimed the lives of no fewer than 19 youngsters.

In an interview with reporters in Mubi on Saturday, Health Commissioner Felix Tangwami disclosed that around 200 youngsters in the local government area had already contracted the disease.

He stated that after the epidemic was discovered in Yola on Saturday, medical personnel and medication were quickly dispatched to the impacted areas.

He promised to send them to hospitals if they had serious infections.

The commissioner stated that the medical team would relocate from Mubi to the Gombi Local Government Area, as there had been reports of a further outbreak there.

Tangwami attributed the outbreak to parents’ unwillingness to vaccinate their children.
